Dragon Scourge is now online!

Posted on Monday, October 24, 2005 at 1:36 pm

Totally. About 8 months after starting the rewrite, and close to two years after announcing the project, the first beta of the entirely rewritten Dragon Scourge is now online and playable at http://www.dragonscourge.com. I’m much happier with this code than I was with the first version, and it now includes some much-anticipated features like PVP (called “Duelling”) and the re-introduction of spells.

It definitely needs lots of testing, and is still a good deal away from being “complete,” but at least it’s playable, and at least I have something to show for the twoish years of development on the project. If you wanna play it, please read this post, as it has a lot of explanation stuff for what to expect. But then you can totally go play it and help me with testing. That’d be great.

Sports games are evil!

Like, six or so months ago, my grandma sent me a copy of Tiger Woods 2005 for my PS2. At the time, I was taking a golf class at school (I needed the P.E. credit), and she thought it might help me with that class, or something. I didn’t really think much of it, and actually never even opened it. Then a few weeks ago, I was attending a small get-together at my friend’s house, who happened to have the 2004 Xbox version. After several beers, we decided to play it. And it’s actually a really fun game. Really addictive. And it goes very well with alcohol. So after that, we cracked open my copy, and my wife and I have been playing it almost nonstop for like two weeks. You can customize your character with all sorts of options and settings. There’s thousands of different pieces of clothing, and the face/body customization is amazing. Just creating your character is almost as fun as playing the game itself.

So… um… I don’t really know what the point of this post was. I just hadn’t posted in awhile, and figured I needed to post something. But yeah, it’s a good game. You all should run out and buy a copy. Actually, it’s going to be one of the early games released for Xbox 360, and the screenshots look gorgeous. So if you’re one of those pansy-ass rich people who buy new consoles the day they’re released, try it out once it gets here. It ought to be pretty fun.

Go ‘Stros!

Totally. Bottom of the 18th (yes, eighteenth) inning, Chris Burke hit the game-winning homerun, sending the Astros to the National League Championship Series with a score of 7-6 against the Braves. The total game was almost 6 hours long, and is officially the longest post-season game ever played in the history of baseball.

So yeah. Seriously. Yay for the Astros. They are SOOO going all the way this year. I feel it. It marches through my veins… like RADIOACTIVE RUBBER PANTS! DON’T IGNORE THE PANTS!!!
