Calling all angry liberals!

Ok, so, here’s the deal. My aunt seems to think either (a) I am a die-hard Republican, or (b) that I can possibly be swayed toward being a die-hard Republican if she sends me enough blatantly anti-Democrat email propaganda. Neither of those two possibilities are correct, though. Take this email, which I recently received.
This is an interesting bit of information that you don’t hear much about.
How Enron Worked the President
A. Enron’s chairman did meet with the President and the Vice President in the Oval Office.
B. Enron gave $420,000 to the president’s party over three years.
C. It donated $100,000 to the president’s inauguration festivities.
D. The Enron chairman stayed at the White House 11 times.
E. The corporation had access to the administration at its highest level and even enlisted the Commerce and State Departments to grease deals for it.
F. The taxpayer-supported Export-Import Bank subsidized Enron for more than $600 million in just one transaction.
This is SCANDALOUS!
BUT…
the president under whom all this happened WASN’T George W. Bush.
SURPRISE! It was Bill Clinton!
Pass this on so the whole Country will know. The Media Won’t!
All this sounds shocking, if it weren’t for the Snopes report that proves it’s all entirely bullshit. (As an aside, my also-way-too-conservative cousin was the one who mass-replied to her forward with the link to the Snopes report, which surprised the hell out of me, since I always assumed he was just as Republican as she was.)
Now, I can’t very well come right out and inform her that I don’t appreciate these emails. There’s just no polite way to say “stop sending me your bullshit political ideology tripe.” Believe me, I’ve tried to come up with a way, and it hasn’t worked. I’ve briefly considered training Thunderbird to treat them as spam, but I decided that was a bit drastic as every once in awhile she may actually have something normal to say, in which case I probably wouldn’t want it going straight to junk. Probably.
So I figure, if she thinks she can persuade me to be pro-Republican, maybe I can persuade her to be pro-Democrat. Mind you, I don’t really consider myself a Democrat, but it’s the polar opposite of Republicans, so it’s the best idea I can come up with.
So if you happen to come across any pro-Democrat or anti-Republican chain letters (similar to the example above, but with the finger pointed in the opposite direction), please feel free to forward them to me – as always, my email is jamin (at) se7enet (dot) com. I’ll make sure they make it to (*cough*) the right people.
Thank you.

Another year older. Yeah.

As of yesterday (or quite possibly the day before yesterday, depending on what the current server time is… err… July 13, dammit… screw this!) I am 24 years old. Woo. Or something. One would think I should write some sort of post reflecting on the general events and emotion of the past year. But I won’t. Because I’m just really not that kind of guy. Sorry, ladies. Instead, you get the typical gibberish I always post. Crap about my current life that no one else cares about. Also, pandas. Because, really now, who doesn’t like pandas?!
Anyhoo… what’s going on?
I bought some black spraypaint today, that will be used to paint the bezel portion of the side panel of my new case. The part that surrounds the honeycomb mesh and looks kind of like a “B”. Yes, it’s going to be black. Not red. It’s the one part on my case that will be different. Also, with some of my birthday money, I got to go on a shopping spree at Newegg. I bought a new DVD burner drive (finally!), as well as an awesome new modular power supply (in red, of course). And a few more miscellaneous items like red cables and a SATA adapter. Because IDE is SOOOOO 5 years ago!
In other news, my iBook is succombing to the logic board failure for the third fucking time. You know, you’d think that if Apple had enough motherboards fail to initiate a recall, they would actually fix the problem with the motherboards and install the new, fixed version when someone sent their iBook in for a repair. But no, apparently they don’t work like that. Because the problem first occurred sometime in 2004. I sent it in, they fixed it. Then it happened again in probably October or so, 2005. I sent it in, they fixed it. Now it’s happening YET AGAIN. But I called today, and they’re gonna try one more time to get it fixed. And it’s quite convenient timing, because the recall program applies “for three years after the first retail sale of the unit or until March 18, 2005, whichever provides longer coverage for you.” I purchased it in September, 2003, which means I’ve got about a month and a half to go before I can’t get it fixed anymore. So hopefully they’ll get it right this time. And if they don’t… hey… at least I’ve got another 7-8 months before it happens again and I just have to buy a new laptop. Maybe by that time I’ll actually be able to afford another Mac. Because if they wouldn’t have fixed it this time, I would have had to buy pretty much the cheapest laptop I can find. Because I’m friggin’ poor.
One more thing. For my birthday dinner, my wife treated me to Pappadeaux. I can already tell I’m fatter now for having eaten there. Seriously. If you’re not lucky enough to have ever eaten there, you should stab yourself in the face right now. Really. I’m not kidding. Because you’re totally missing out. It’s just so friggin’ good. It’s my second favorite restaurant EVAR!!!111!!1one!!!. Gaido’s is my absolute-number-one-fuck-everything-else-because-they-don’t-matter favorite restaurant, but they’re a good 6 hour drive away from home, so it wasn’t really very convenient. Pity.
Ok, well, I’m off. It’s Friday, and I’ve got more alcohol to consume, in hopes of wiping away the week. You have fun, now.

Picture Post!!!! Wooooo!!!!

Pictures of my previously mentioned new cat, wherein he is a lazy ass. Click the thumbnails for bigger pictures.
And pictures of the new computer case that my wife got me for my birthday. You’ll note that if you purchase one of these, all the lights are blue. What could this mean?! Why, children, Jamin has already begun hacking this case up to fit the red theme he wants to go with for this case (because ATI r0xx0rz my b0xx0rz). When I’m done, most of the front panel will be either painted, or better yet, anodized red, and there will probably be more lights. But I’ve only had it for a couple days now, so I haven’t gotten a chance to really start digging in yet.

Happy 4th, for those who care.

Happy 4th of July, to those of you who are from America. For all the non-Americans… um… it’s the 4th of July, so shut the hell up, dammit. If you live far enough from city limits and have legal access to fireworks (or even if you’re inside city limits and have fireworks of questionable legal status), please consider blowing shit up for me. I don’t know of anywhere within a 50 mile radius where I would even be able to light any fireworks, so I can’t do it myself. And even if I did, it hasn’t rained in Texas in like 3 months, so lighting fireworks would probably be a federal crime at this point. I’d catch the whole damn state on fire.
I went to Warped Tour ‘06 this past Saturday. It was quite nice. I think past years have been better, as neither No Use or Coheed & Cambria were in attendance this year, but on the whole, it was an enjoyable experience. Lisi even volunteered to accompany me, even though she’s not really into that kind of music, and even though it meant standing around in a parking lot for 7 hours in 100 degree heat. The cost of t-shirts have been steadily rising at the event, in the 5 years I’ve attended the tour. I remember the first year I went (2002), most t-shirts could be had for under $10. Now they were almost all $15, and some of the bigger name shirts went for $20 or more. This sorta saddens me. But it’s still better than paying $18.95 plus tax at stupid Hot Topic, I guess. Man, I remember shopping at Hot Topic before shopping at Hot Topic was cool. Those were the days.
Also, my wife has been bugging me to post about the new cat. So I guess I’ll get that out of the way. As we all know, I’m not a cat person. But since she finally got a job, we quickly realized that by the time we both got home, we were in no mood to play with Petey enough to wear him out. So we decided to get him a companion. We adopted a new kitten from the Frisco Humane Society, and named him Newo. (No, that’s not a typo, it actually is Newo; it’s a character from the Coheed & Cambria story, if you’re curious.) When we first picked him up, he was a good deal smaller than Petey was when he first showed up. And it’s kind of funny, because I’d never totally realized exactly how much Petey had grown since December, until we brought Newo home and they sat side-by-side. I’ll post some pictures, at some point, but I’m writing this from my laptop, which doesn’t have any of the pictures on it.
By the way, my first choice for a name was “Stir Fry,” and some other possible names were “General Tso,” “Pei Wei,” and “Egg Roll.” Unfortunately Lisi vetoed all of these. She apparently didn’t understand how hilarious it would be to name a cat after chinese food. I was quite dissatisfied. But I guess Newo will work.
Ok, I’m off to watch some more House. Enjoy yourselves, and have a good Blow Shit Up Day.
