Things my son has learned to do.

  • Roll over in both directions.
  • Prop himself up on his hands/elbows while laying on his stomach.
  • Put the binkie back into his own mouth.
  • Put himself to sleep with (mostly) minimal fight.
  • Throw toys on the floor from his high chair and watch Mom and Dad pick them up repeatedly.
  • Say “mama.”

Things my son has not learned to do.

  • Say “dada.” Not jealous.
  • Remain asleep through the night.
  • Crawl.
  • Walk.
  • Go in the toilet.
  • Be a linebacker for the Cowboys.
  • Astrophysics.

DaDa requires a specific muscle in his tongue that won’t be developed as early in English speaking children, or most other languages with latin as a base.

Asian babies tend to say DaDa first because they hear a variety of sounds. For what it’s worth, my baby won’t say mama for almost a year or some shit lol. He also just quit sleeping through the night after 2 months of doing the damn thing. Most displeased to say the very fucking least.

Jhonen did that too, but we only got a week or two of sleeping through the night. He’s still not. So… good luck with that. :(

And from what Lisi read and heard from people, Dada was supposedly what most babies learned first, but it seems to me like Mama would be easier to mimic since the whole pronunciation is on the front of your mouth and easier to see.
