Hello all. iam new to dk and my friend just loaded the game onto his server. i believe the address is http://dragonknight.shellwerx.org. for some reason whenever we try and go north to leave a town i get this msg Quote:
You are already in this town. Click here to return to the main town screen.
so we cant fight any monsters. Unless i move myself manualy from the admin cp. any help would be greatfully appreaciated.

1, this forum isnt for bad installations and only for bugs in the stock code. As you have the stock code (I assume) youre only half right.
2, Rolling your eyes like that will get you little respect.
3, The information you have provided doesnt mean jack shit. Make sure you copied ALL the files and you properly set up the database. If you have any missing fields or files youll problem get an issue like this.

reinstall DK to start, if it does the same problem, you need to check all tables are installed, should be 11 tables
babble
control
drops
forum
items
levels
monsters
news
spells
towns
users
all with dk_ prefix. If thats all there, then you installed correctly. So check your userrow and current action and see if it matches the action you're doing, make sure its querying the db right.
Finally, if your friend can, get a server that dosen't force google advertisements.

I use IE 6.0 all the time and mines never had any problems, So I dunno

You just condemed yourself to a very dark cold and lonley spot in the forum.
I use IE at work, I have no choice really. But its all up to date and such. Maybe older versions have this issue. If youre using the stock IE that comes with XP than yes, it will happen.

I don't use IE for everything, like I use FF to browse this forum. Just for my copy of dk and the game I'm writing from scratch i prefer tailoring for IE =p

FF 1.5 got the last of the things people used to use IE for. Unfortuantly since IE WAS the standard many programs where designed for it in order to gain access to a standarisation. Here at work I used a program called TeamBinder that thousands of companies around the world use for Document Control. TeamBinder needs the hard coded support that matches IE 5.5+
But there have been many requests for FF support. What that means is that the TeamBinder hard code has to be edited to match that of FF.
For home use, FF has finaly taken the last step in matching IE and you should never have to use IE again.
