I'm not too sure what to make of that, or what its expecting you to do to solve the problem, lol. The feature itself sounds good. But from the screenie it dosen't look to well thought out, nor does it look like its promoting Windows programs, lolz
Their marketing ploy from a gamer standpoint is ridiculous too, making Halo 2 only playable on Vista =s

Dude, not cool. You should say bring on linux. DOS is a travesty against all that is good and holy in the computing world. Long live Linux, long live the Revolution!
Actually, on a side note, I think I'm going to buy into Vista and so will most people since it has been forever and it would be in their upgrade cycle to upgrade to Vista when it comes out. Unless of course, schools upgraded in 2004 or 2005 to Windows XP, then it won't be until 2008 or 2009 until they buy into Vista.
I believe my school upgraded in 2003 to XP, but it should be in their upgrade cycle to upgrade in 2007 at the latest. Those in the Fall Semester should see it at least. Schools and business might bite the cost and upgrade anyway to the minimum edition because of the builtin controls. Schools would just love to use the builtin user controls to limit students from doing just about anything their not supposed to. And they also won't (re: most likely depending on how badly the SysAdmin is) be able to hack and gain admin like they could with WinXP user controls.

Name me one OS that hasnt crashed randomly. Name me one OS that doesnt crash without a reason. Name me one OS that will ALWAYS do what you want it to do. Name me one OS that was always backwards compatible with its previous versions. Name me one OS that allowed you to completly control what your computer was doing. Name me another OS that would TELL you what it was doing when you asked it to do something.
Putting asside the reasons above, as a computer user I ALWAYS end up reverting back to a command prompt of somekind... Based on DOS. So fuck you mr gold dragon. Fuck you mr anyone else who challenges me. DOS will forever be my OS of choice. Fuck you american democracy for being so stupid and fuck america for being stupid. And fuck stupid. I just wanted to say fuck.

I do want to point out that I was talking about MS-DOS and not the command prompt, which isn't really DOS. It has all of the DOS features but it also has so much more and the newer command prompt is built off of the OS core and not the other way around as in 9.x.

Well, if the Operating System is only built for such a limited feature set, then yeah. It isn't that a OS won't crash, because I have seen DOS lock up and not respond at some point when I was using it way back when. The point is how well it recovers when it crashes. Most modern OS will recover from itself because it has a background process running at all time independent of the OS that would restart it in case the shell blew up.

Linux is well known for doing what you want it to do, newer version have some protection against someone shooting themselves in the foot.
Code:
rm -R /
I believe that is the command that would really screw you up if you typed it into the linux shell before they added the mode that asks you if you really, really want to do that.

Well you do have me there, Microsoft is very very good at having backwards compatible with older versions. The same can't be said with Linux as it is open source and the programmers don't have the resources.
Quote:

Again, I don't think you have used Linux to any full extent.
CRON Jobs Folders/Crontab
Not to mention you could customize your machine to where it only had components to let you play games without all of the other crap. It would require a lot more work to do it with Linux unless you were a God level C coders with assembler knowledge, but if you were then the sky would be the limit. The next version will make this a hell of a lot easier for normal folk like us at achieving this. It will be in components and it shouldn't be that hard to figure out what is what when coding and setting things up for Gaming.
As for Windows, it is easy as hell with no l33t skillz required. Sadly, you can do things a lot easier in the shell prompt in Linux than you can do it in the X Windows. That and I freakin' hate hate having to crack into coders programming to get things to install correctly. Ever try installing a mail server? Not recommended on Linux, I would have rather hammered nails into my hand than set that bitch up.

Name me another OS that would TELL you what it was doing when you asked it to do something.
Code:
ps
Most things will tell you exactly what it is doing on linux, which is annoying (but helpful to determine the source of errors) so you can switch it off when you want to.

Well, besides the fact that it doesn't support TCP/IP natively, doesn't support mutlitasking, doesn't do the Internet (without buggy software to run it half-assed). As one who tried SuSe Linux 6.x, I can say that DOS was an easier choice (both to install and use).
Today, I'm glad DOS standalone OS is dead. No offense, but I like running more than one program at the same time as it is quite useful.
Command prompts are based off of Unix, which was created long before DOS. There is nothing wrong with command prompts. If you would have said "Command Prompt," we wouldn't be having this discussion.

Well, it is a very funny word used in the right way.

Unix never crashes, hence the Tshirt that says:
"I use Unix, which means that I get laid as often as I have to reboot"
or something to that effect.

Gold dragon... First things first, OF COURSE DOS DOESNT SUPPORT TCPIP It wasnt even a standard back then. And windows is shit for backwards capatability. Peice of shit. Dos games example. A lot of older windows 95 games. Hell, even office 98 cant be installed on xp. Well, it can, but it needs to be beated a bit.
Also at Lan parties we have a policy. If a game doesnt work and youre running linux, were leaving you out. Fix it yourself.
