I took a look through the forums, but couldn't find anything that covers my questions.

Does anyone have any mods/code to make it a easier to debug DK?

When I find "white screens" I have to go in and comment out display(blah...) and replace it with echo $page just to get any error messages that php generates. Is there a way to get this information to display even when display fails so when I come across random bugs I can see what's happening?

Currently the only bug I haven't been able to explore is an occasional random teleport back to 0,0 when exploring. While a fix for that would be nice, having feedback from the program when it fails would be much more useful.

Cheers.

No need for error de-bugging. I know almost every single error on my game and how to fix it. It's quite simple. The best thing to do is, keep a log of your errors and how you fixed them, so you can look it up if you forget.

That's nice. Pity I'm not playing your game.

How about you post that long list of every bug that has been (and apparently ever will be) in your game and the list of how to fix them all? I'm sure lots of people will benefit from it. Or, even better, how about you do the same thing for Windows, I'm sure Microsoft would love a list of every bug and how to fix them all.

Ok, now that's done. How about someone who actually knows what debugging means post a response? There has to be a better way than looking in the php error log for the errors.

You didnt really help.

A blank screen in DK is usually a display error or its trying to get to a function that doesnt exist. Mosty likely the latter, as youve probably done a typo or something.

DS doesnt have script debugging because of how it handles templates. DK should show you every error regardless. Except as mentioned above.

masterofollies: I may be an arsehole, but at least I'm not a troll with an IQ of about 6.7.

AnmanIndustries: Thanks \:\)

I believe I understand the problem now. Is there a way to get php to die after outputting any warning or error?

It wouldn't help with playability but at least it would allow me to see at least one of the errors without tailing log files. I'm familiar with the PHP language, but not many of it's specific settings.

"Ass", as we Americans say the word, is the incorrect version.

Thanks Whiz.

BTW, do you mind if I back port some of your mod ideas to DK. There are a few that I think I can get to work.

That's what I'm doing right now. I was wandering if there was a setting in php.ini or something that would basically auto-die() on an error. I'll have to look into it some more, when it isn't 4 in the morning...

debugging should only come in when you have a problem. You shouldnt be having much trouble with this. I never bother with anything like that.

Sure. I had some plans to do so, but time is always a precious commodity.
