FYI, Blizzard's website has been having splash screens all week that have showed a chunk of ice slowly melting/breaking a little more with each passing day, to reveal something behind it. Blizzard has already said that they plan on making a big new game announcement at WWI, which starts this Saturday.
And according to the major fansites, who claim to have inside information (from people who would probably be fired if their names got out, no doubt), that big announcement is going to be...
Diablo 3.
Please, for FSM's sake, let this be true.
Granted, even if they do announce D3, we'll still have awhile to wait. Blizzard's SOP is to announce a game, then wait a year and announce a release date of "next year", then let that release date slip by for another year while they perfect it - and by "perfect it" I mean strip half the features out that they'd originally promised. And then it will finally ship in about 3 years, with half as many awesome things as originally planned, and it will still be the greatest game in the history of existence. Because that's how Blizzard rolls.
Here's hoping. Keep your fingers crossed till Saturday.

I'd still be playing D2 until this day if it weren't for my crappy new internet connection.
I really hope D3 is awesome.

For Blizzard, WoW is, essentially, a license to print money. So, first of all, why in God's name would they want to spend money on other projects, when WoW is perfectly profitable enough as it is.
Second, Blizzard is too perfect. Every game they've made, since the original Warcraft, has been Game Of The Year. They don't know how to fail. And that's the problem. They've got too great a track record. At this point, they can't fail. Because as soon as they do, they drop down to "just another game developer." Any chink in the armor and they aren't any better than EA. So it's in their best interests to take as much time as they feel like with every project now. Games get done "when they're done," because if they release a game early, it's not perfect, and everyone will lose their confidence in them.
So yeah. I can think a bit more about that. And I still trust Blizzard. I'm well aware that, even if Diablo 3 is announced on Saturday, my (unborn) baby will probably be in kindergarten before I can actually play the game. But that's how Blizzard does things. I'm good with it.

Love the comic strip. I set it to my background on my third monitor.
(2 monitors wasn't enough if you were wondering)

My excitement is non existent here. Its good there is a single player aspect. I hope there is a lan aspect too. I also hope you DONT need a connection to the internet. I also hope I dont need to fork out 500-1000 bucks for a new graphics card. I hope it doesnt fall victim to the general bargearseness of the new game trends where all new games, suck. With so much to hope for, Im going to wait for a few months when it is released to see how it goes.
