Regrettably, I'm afraid I must inform you that I will be closing the forums indefinitely.

There are a lot of reasons for this, but there are three really big ones. First and foremost, the bickering and fighting and newb-bashing have grown to a fevered pace lately, and it's simply no longer fun, and it's no longer a place I want my name and my work associated with. I won't place blame on anyone for this; in fact, I'll take all of the blame for it myself, since I never stopped it in the first place, which is what I should have done a long time ago. Second, we're running a very old version of UBB.threads because I don't have the time or inclination to renew my Threads membership and upgrade to a more secure version, nor do I feel like changing to a free alternative and putting in the requisite time to make that transition happen. This is leading to an increase in robospam, and a good deal more probable security holes than I really feel comfortable with. And thirdly, I'm about to have a son, and will have even less time than before to get on here and help out. Diapers won't change themselves, you know.

If any of you feel so inclined, you're more than welcome to leave me a URL to your own support forums, and in the official closure announcement (whenever that comes) I will direct traffic to your site(s). I will probably leave these forums up in read-only mode for some time, so that if you do want to assume the DK/DS support traffic, you can at least still reference the information that's already been posted here.

I think I'll also get some sort of mailing list in place, that you may sign up for if you wish, which I'll use in the event that I ever decide to re-open the forums. At this point in time, I don't really plan on ever doing that, but hey, anything's possible. And you can always continue checking out the blog, too, as I don't plan on getting rid of that yet.

Right now, I do not yet know an exact date for when all this will happen. But I expect it to be sometime within the next few weeks. I've still got a bit of planning and work to do in getting everything ready for a shutdown, so it will be a little while before it's all finalized.

Thank you all for all the help and encouragement you've provided over the last good long while. It's been an awesome ride, but I believe that this is the best thing I can do right now.
