One thing I have noticed since releasing Dragon Knight is that my bandwidth usage has skyrocketed. I am on a hosting plan that gives me quite a bit of b/w to spare, so as of this very moment, I am not in any immediate danger of hitting my limit. But the b/w usage does continue to rise, and if it continues steadily at the rate it has been, I will hit my b/w cap in less than a year. Besides this, a lot of my free time over the past six or so months, that could have been spent at a real job making real money, has been spent programming DK and Scourge.
Given that situation, I am considering charging a small amount for the next game. It wouldn't be much, maybe $10-20 per license (which is quite a bit less than some companies charge for stuff ). The way this would work is similar to the way UBB/VB/etc do their scripts now: there's a free version with fewer features and restrictions on what you can do with it, or you can pay to get a license and download the full version.
A second option would be to have the game continue to be free, but something like "conscience-ware." You know, with the optional paypal link or something, where people can donate whatever they feel like donating.
A third option would be just leave everything completely free out of the goodness of my heart.
So I'm asking your opinions, since a lot of you guys are the ones who would be getting the new game anyway. Please answer the poll question, it will help me decide what needs to be done. Thanks in advance.

I lke the idea of paying for a game, if it is somewhat optional. I know part of hte fun of DK was it being free, and somewhat thinner in features than a number of big corporate-controlled game systems out there.
But keeping in mind that it is the result of one Jamin, who toiled for months, pouring untold volumes of blood, sweat and tears into the creation of a Code...
Erm. sorry, too many RPG games have epic-ized my brain!
Anyway, I'd definitely pay a small price for such a great bit of code, and I really like the idea of a basic freeware version with optional paypal upgrades. That way any coders out there can see your core engine and host a basic game, but a small shareware price would help refund your pockets and let the dedicated fanbase who needed full functionality to help compensate you for your efforts!

Maybe a charge for:
-full support?? <== will cost much time
-can edit/delete the copyright banner..
-pay to get access to extra scripts/add-ons
wich normal users don't get, unless they code 'em themself..
Since you don't have that many users of the game, I think thart if you let people donate, you get only 5 bucks...
